Bonus -FDNY Search and Rescue Conference photos
I said I was going to be attending a conference on Urban Search and Rescue in New York City this week. I promised to send some pictures from the first three days of the four day conference. Although they have nothing to do with the subject of this publication, perhaps people will find them interesting, Feel free to ask questions in the comment section if you would like.
Quick biographical note. In high school, I wanted to be a firefighter or an Emergency Medical Services person. My parents wanted me to go to college. Eventually, I did both, and in college drifted into Asian and Chinese studies. Therefore I am an EMT with a background in East Asian Studies and history. I work part time for an ambulance service, helping people with emergency medical care and medical transportation part time while also having a relatively uninteresting civil service position. This publication came about as I was not really using the Asian or Chinese studies background despite an obvious love for the field. Of course, I love EMS too. FYI, I did make some contacts with one of the EMS trade publications and we will see if it turns into some actual writing assignments. I will keep people posted.
THIS IS DAY THREE OF THE CONFERENCE. a quick selection of photos.
This is Day Two. There were multiple tracks. I chose one that included lectures on burns, burn treatment, and a tour of one of the best burn centers in the northeastern USA.
This is day one. I chose to spend the day learning about venomous snake bites and their treatment at the Bronx Zoo,
